About Peter’s Travels
Our beloved Peter passed away on December 18th, 2021.
The following introduction to his blog is unedited from late 2020.
Learn more about future celebration of life and how to share your memories.
I started to travel internationally 60 years ago (I am not counting hitchhiking around Europe alone when I was 16) and I have not missed one year since I started.
During the last five months of 1960 I travelled by ship to the following countries/cities:
- Aruba (Dutch West Indies)
- Panama Canal – Colon on the Atlantic and Balboa on the Pacific (twice)
- Tahiti – French protectorate (twice)
- New Zealand – Auckland – Wellington – Christchurch – Dunedin
- Jamaica
- United States of America (Florida)
- Bermuda
During 2020 when the Coronavirus rampaged through the world, in January & February, I visited:
- Nairobi (Kenya)
- Zanzibar (Tanzania)
- Cuba (Havana)
I have never thought of my life being in any way special, it has just unfolded in a different way from others, but for many years my family and global friends have petitioned me to share my stories and I have now started. I have compiled a list of over 100 real-life stories and experiences which have shaped my life over the past 60 years. Most are positive and successful, but I also plan to share some downside and failures.
Khyber Pass
Having shared some topics, there are many that Peter didn’t get to share including his trip by bus through the Khyber Pass from Peshawar in northwest Pakistan to Kabul in Afghanistan.
Please send Chris any stories about Peter which you think we ought to add.
For short stories, photos and memories, please add them to Peter’s Kudoboard.
